Moonlight and Magnolias
Sunday, November 2, 2 p.m.
M&M Productions offer this humorous play in which producer David O. Selznick pulls two Hollywood screenwriters into seclusion for five days to write a blueprint of Gone With the Wind.

This from George:  A Soldier's Soul
Wednesday, November 5, 7:30 p.m.
Author Eileen Patch presents a character portrayal and interpretation of her great uncle, Sgt. George M. Englis.  Englis served in the 89th NYS Regiment, 1861-1865.  He wrote 57 letters about his war experiences.  Patch researched the letters, compiling them into a book.  She will read passages as though she were the recipient.  Program co-sponsored by the Civil War Roundtable.

Great Decisions
Meetings will be held the first Thursday of the month at 7 p.m.
November 6 - U.S.-China Trade Policy
Examine current global issues relating to United States policy.  Meetings will begin with a short film followed by a focused discussion that is fact-based and nonpartisan.  For required study guide, contact the program coordinator at 914-906-0242.  Sponsored by the American Association of University Women.

Internet Orientation
Friday, November 7, 10 a.m.
An introduction to basic Internet use.  This is a hands-on class.  As the library is closed Friday mornings, please arrive between 9:45 and 10:00 a.m. for entrance.  Doors will be locked promptly at 10:05 a.m. Please register five days before class at 634-4997, ext. 125 or stop at the adult Reference desk.

Parisian Salon, the piano and flute ensemble of Norman Dee and Josephine Chan Yung, return for an afternoon of classical music.

Turmoil and Changes in the Computer World
Monday, November 10, 7:30 p.m.
Macs are now more compatible with PC software, Vista XP is becoming the operating system thrust upon everyone, and the trend is to hire a manager for individuals' systems.  Joel Wachtel, computer guru, will sift through the facts and fiction to make sense of these new trends.

Garden Club of Clarkstown
Wednesday, November 12, 7 p.m.
Enhance your garden with a variety of bird life.  Learn which plants attract particular birds and what birds you want in your garden to help control pests.  A member of the Rockland Audubon Society will present the program.

Using the Library from Home

Artistic Collage Holiday Cards
Saturday, November 15, 1:30 p.m.
Create your own greeting card designs at this hands-on workshop.  Illustrator and educator Jamie Ross will supply unique and diverse materials.  Fee: $5.  Limited registration, call 634-4997, ext. 139.

Wars and Postcards
Saturday, November 15, 1:30 p.m.
Postcards were immensely popular with soldiers and reached their height of popularity during WWII, when the government issued them to all soldiers.  Paul Martin, an avid military postcard collector, will share and explain various examples from his collection.

The Words of War
Tuesday, November 18, 7:30 p.m.
War is portrayed in many ways by writers and photographers.  Each offer their interpretation, factual or contrived.  Author and publisher Donagh Bracken compares press articles from the North and the South and shows the disparity in reporting during the Civil War.
