This annual event sponsored by the Genealogy Society of Rockland County will feature a program in the morning, a lunch break and then four mini-workshops. Greta Nettleton will begin by sharing her family research, with which she wrote a historical memoir. (Through her genealogical detective work she discovered that her great-grandmother became a millionaire selling her patent medicines.) Over lunch, we will talk about problems people are running into with their own research. At 1:00 PM. the mini-workshops, which include cemetery records, vital records, census, and library/government records, will begin. At the end of each 15-minute session, participants can move to a new topic.

This is the third year for this film/discussion series with the Rockland Chapter of this national organization. The movie, David and Lisa, features Keir Dullea and Janet Margolin in a gripping portrayal of two teenagers finding love and trust while dealing with their mental and emotional disorders in a psychiatric hospital. Filmed in black and white, David and Lisa received Oscar nominations for both its direction and screenplay. The discussion will be led by psychologist and long-time supporter of NAMI, Dr. David Drassner.

Take a day for yourself! Our library retreat will start with instructor Rochelle Spooner leading a yoga class, so don't forget a towel or mat. Bring a bag lunch (beverages supplied) and while we eat we'll chat about issues that are on our minds. Afterwards, we will have a meditation session with Rafia to bring our relaxing day to an end.

Hike to outlaw Claudius Smith's primary hiding place in the Ramapo Mountains. Dr. Andy Smith will guide us and with his usual flair tell true tales about the famed criminal. What are  hearing loops?  Loop Rockland, a nonprofit organization headed by county audiologists, is looking to install loops that enhance the sound when attending an event. NYC museums, lecture halls and theatres are installing them and a group of intersted persons want to do the same in this county. There will be a guest speaker, Richard E a pianist who lost his hearing. With the aid of this device, he was able to listen to a concert for the first time in 
awhile. Please attend this informational meeting.
